Piano & Music Preparatory Program

NTPPA teacher guiding young children at the piano

The Preparatory Program is for children in preschool through first grade. Classes are taught by qualified piano teachers with Master's and Doctorate degrees, and follow the way children of this age naturally learn — using hands-on activities rather than long lectures.

This age is ideal for learning new skills, as children move from observing their environment to actively engaging with it. Classes are presented as small-group experiences where children benefit from learning alongside students of similar age. Activities are short and varied to match young children's natural attention spans.

There is no pressure for formal daily at-home practice at the preparatory level. Students from the Piano Preparatory Program graduate into the Core Program.
